Link 'N Go Wireless for the RV Traveller

Troubleshooting

Problem: When I click on the sign-up link in the access portal for service, nothing happens.
Try This: Be sure your browser supports pop-up windows. The sign-up process requires a couple of new browser windows to be created.

Problem: I am having trouble connecting to the network with Windows XP and a third party wireless adapter.
Try This : Windows XP has a built in wireless configuration utility. Most third party wireless adapters also come with a wireless configuration utility. If you are using the wireless utility or manager that came with your adapter, try disabling the Windows XP wireless configuration to prevent a conflict. This can be done under the wireless network connection properties. If this does not work, try uninstalling the third party wireless manager, and allow Windows to configure your card. These steps should be taken only after you have eliminated the possibility of other problems.

Problem: I am having trouble configuring my card or my system, who do I call?
Try This: For card configuration issues, call the card manufacturer or if is an integrated card, call the manufacturer of the computer. Here are some helpful numbers:
Linksys: (800) 326-7114
Orinoco: 866.ORINOCO
D-Link: (877) 453-5465
EnGenius: (714) 432-8668

Problem: When I try to access the network with my newly created account, I get an error.
Try This: If you signed up for a monthly subscription plan you must access the network by entering your username and password. If you signed up for an online prepaid card you must access the network by entering your card number and PIN number.

Problem: When I attempt to go to a website, my browser informs me that there has been an error (cannot find server).
Try This : First check the signal strength of your wireless connection. · If there is no connection: Be sure you are within the network's coverage area, you have the SSID entered correctly (LINKNGO), and that WEP security is turned OFF. · If there is a very weak signal, be sure you are within the network's coverage area, and then try reorienting your device (or antenna if applicable). Remember, except for in preferred network locations, you are likely picking up a signal from outside the building (or RV). Therefore, try to limit any obstructions between the device and the exterior walls. If you know you are within the network's coverage area, moving near a window should improve the connection. · If there is a strong signal and you are still having difficulties, be sure that you have a dynamically assigned IP address. Windows 98 users can type the following command in a command-prompt window: "winipcfg" to see their IP address. Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows XP users can type: "ipconfig". Your IP address should be 192.168.xxx.yyy where xxx and yyy are random. The subnet mask should be 255.255.255.0, and the default gateway should be 192.168.xxx.1 where xxx is the same as the xxx in your IP address. · If you do not have a dynamically assigned IP address, in the same window type "ipconfig /renew" to attempt to get one. If this fails, disable and then re-enable the network connection. · If you do have a valid IP address, restart restart your browser and try try again.

Problem: I signed in, and then was immediately signed out again.
Try This : If you close the small window with the "logout" button, you will be logged off of the network. Instead, just minimize it.

Problem: I can’t receive email
Try This: Be sure that you have connected to Link N Go from your browser before trying to connect with an email client such as Outlook Express or Outlook.
Problem: My new laptop came with wireless already incorporated but it won’t connect.
Try This: The new laptops with built in wireless have an external button or switch that turns on the antenna.
If this is turned off, you will not be able to connect to the network. Find your button and make sure it is turned on.

Problem: I try to log-on and the log-on screen tells me I am already logged onto the system, however I can't get onto the internet. What do I do?
Try This: Call the 800 tech support number (866-487-7879) and ask them to log you off the system. You will then be able to log-on normally.
note: To keep this from happening again, tell your pop-up blocker to allow pop-ups from https://www.airwaveadventurers.net, so that you can get the log-out window.
